  • The Four Sights inspired Siddhartha to find a spiritual solution to the problems of human life. Siddhartha gave up being a prince, he left his wife, son and his lavish life behind to become a wandering seeker of spiritual knowledge.
  • Why do we go through so much suffering?
  • I must find a solution!
  • Siddhartha spent years trying to reach enlightenment through various different methods such as continuous meditation and extreme fasting but nothing was working. Finally Siddhartha decided that a life of moderation could free humans from suffering, the Middle Way was the answer.
  • Siddhartha's journey to reach enlightenment as well as the principles that he developed like the Four Noble truths as well as the Eight-Fold Path inspired many individuals across the world. Buddhism has over 470 million followers across the world and has touched the lives of countless amounts of people

  • I am so hungry but I must stay focused!
  • Siddhartha travelled to a place known as Bodh Gaya and began to meditate cross-legged under a bodhi tree. Soon after he fell into a trance in which the evil one, Mara, tried to tempt Siddhartha. Siddhartha refused to give in to Mara and disregarded the temptations with which he was presented.
  • GIVE IN TO TEMPTATION
  • Siddhartha reached a state of higher consciousness and the Four Noble Truths came to him. He saw cycles of death and rebirth and how our good and bad deeds had consequences. Through this enlightenment he was able to remove craving and ignorance from himself, achieving Nirvana and escaping the cycle of rebirth.
