Hi! I’m Dr. Deem, a medical consultant. I’m going to be asking you some questions to help you know what is causing your symptoms.

She has a rash, a headache and feels tired.
What symptoms is your daughter experiencing?
We went hiking and I found a tick on her arm so I removed it when we came back.
Did she recently do any outdoor activity or went somewhere grassy?
It was probably attached for several hours. I got the tick sample with me.
How long was the tick attached before it was removed?
This was 3 days ago but I noticed the rash this morning.
When did you notice the bite?

Based on the tick bite and the symptoms this appears to be mild Lyme disease which is caused by a bacterium transmitted through infected tick bites. I will prescribe antibiotics to treat it.
How can we prevent this from happening again?
To prevent Lyme disease:1) Wear long sleeves and pants when going outdoor. 2) Use insect repellent.3) Check head to toe for ticks.4) Shower within 2hrs of coming indoor. 5) Remove ticks immediately.
