- The final scene begins with a view of the New York City skyline, complete with hot air balloons and biplanes.
- Dexter, now a fully grown and refined man, is seen hard at work in his lavish office. A Detroit man named Devlin enters to discuss business affairs.
- Dexter Green,Financial Consultant
- The two sit down and have a drink. To Dexter's surprise, their conversation suddenly drifts onto the subject of Judy Jones of the Midwest.
- Dexter Green,Financial Consultant
- Yes... I knew her once...
- You from the Midwest, huh? Ever heard of Judy Simms? Jones used to be her name...
- Devlin tells Dexter about Judy's abusive husband and the loss of her beauty. Dexter awkwardly laughs at the news.
- Dexter Green,Financial Consultant
- I've seen many good women fade away, just like that...
- Once Devlin leaves, Dexter leaves his office and enters his lounge. The camera pans out of the window over the city as he breaks down in tears.
- The movie ends with a flashback of young Dexter standing in a snow-covered golf course. He looks up dreamily at the snow falling from the sky.
