- The Second Inaugural Address was given on March 4, 1865. The 13th amendment was in the process of being ratified, and the war was still going on.
- lincoln wanted to have peace among everyone in the United States. He also wants to rebuild the economy and relationships to repair the Union. He wants to put aside all differences and unify the North and South.
