- Thinking
- I decided to help my community by creating some sort of care package for people who needed it. I ended up deciding that I would donate to the military and first responders. I think they are the pillars of the community partly because of how involved my military grandparents were in my life. They may not still be around, but their teachings haven't gone anywhere.

- Researching
- I decided to donate to Operation Gratitude as they would take care packages and even had a wish list of items for me to choose from. Their goal is to give to those who need it and to say thank you and honor those who served. They gave packages to both first responders and Military. Because I was doing care packages the only communication I would have is nonverbal so I decided to try my best to communicate my care throuigh the items I bought and the time I spent picking them out.

- Stereotypes
- Despite my grandparents being veterans I harbor negative stereotypes on first responders and military. I chose to help them because I thought it would help get rid of those and help me humanize them more. And it did, shopping and taking the time to make care packages for these people really helped me see them as more than just their uniform. I think I will most likely try to do this again come next holiday season.

- Shopping
- So I took the wish list and went shopping to buy things to put into the care packages such as drink packets, puzzles, games, and even comic books (I have a large collection so I donated some that I thought they would like!). I spent a considerable amount of time shopping at different stores because I wanted these items to be unique and interesting. I went to Costco for the drink packets and a handful of my favorite game stores to find the perfect games and puzzles.

- Packing
- Packing took some time, but I had a good time. While I was packing I was thinking how incredible it is that I can do all of this through technology, and know for a fact that its going to the right places. This type of interpersonal communication is so interesting because I didn't see or speak to nearly anybody but I can still communicate my thanks and care through these packages entirely perpetuated by technology, its something that I don't think would be possible more the vast majority of human history.

- I think that the division in our country stems from the belief that we are alone, and I think that something like this can help treat that division and heal society as a whole because anyone in need should be helped, and knowing that others are there for you especially strangers is something comforting even to me. I've always been one for volunteer work and I think this has helped me stay my path and continue to help others as time goes on.
