The earliest hominid, (the Australopithecus) lived in Africa 4 million years ago. They had opposable thumbs and they had small bodies and brains.#160;
Stage 1: (4,000,000 B.C.)
A more advanced hominid developed with a somewhat larger brain. Homo Habilis, man of skills or handy human.#160;-Created and used stone tools#160;-Lived in caves-Remained in Africa
Stage 2: (2,500,000-1,600,000 B.C.)
Homo Erectus, or known as the upright human had arms and legs grown to proportion with the rest of their body. The Homo Erectus was the first human to use fire and they were the first hominid to leave Africa.
Stage 3: (1,500,000-250,000 B.C.)
Stage 4: (250,000-30,000 B.C.)
Homo Sapiens by this time were nicknamed wise humans. Homo Sapiens showed rapid brain development and mastered controlling fire.#160;-Homo Sapiens spread out of Africa and to other parts of the world.-Homo Sapiens replaced other early hominids in Europe, Africa, and Asia.
By this time period, Homo Sapiens are now called Homo Sapiens Sapiens or wise, wise human. The spread of these humans was a slow process but over thousands of years, Homo Sapiens Sapiens spread out over the globe on the search for food.
