  • Thanks for tuning in for today lesson on Waves. Now go ace that science test! Thanks for Watching!
  • So here we have a Transverse Wave a wave in which particles of the medium move in a direction perpendicular to the direction that the wave moves.
  • Yes, and the arrows on top represent a Wavelength;the distance between two points
  • Here we have a Wave which is considered a Transverse wave and Longitudinal
  • This wave has a crest which is the top of a wave, a trough which is the bottom of a wave and amplitude is actually the size in between the wave up and down
  • Refraction is the change in direction of waves that occurs when waves travel from one medium to another.
  • Refraction involves the bending of light; diffraction involves the bending and spreading of light, usually around an obstacle.
  • Diffraction is also one the spreading of waves around obstacles.
  • So lets compare rarefaction and compression and how they are alike to one another
  • Rarefaction is the reduction of an item's density, the opposite of compression. Like compression, which can travel in waves, rarefaction waves also exist in nature.
  • An example could be a slinky when it compressed and pulled apart
  • Now lets compare transmission and absorption. Transmission is transferring something from one spot to another.
