- Hi, Im Charles Dickens : a famous English writer from the 19th century!
- Before I was a Novelist, I nearly became a professional actor. However, I figured out that it wouldn't work for me, and here is where my literature career starts.
- The fame continued to grow and in 1836 "The Pickwick Papers" shot me into the spotlight.
- In 1833 I started writing essays and stories to magazines and newspapers. A few months went, and I increasingly got more and more famous.
- I even played before Queen Victoria in 1851!
- As well as that, I actually lectured against the elections of the USA. I believe they were unfair, and cheated.
- And, did you know that "David Copperfield" and "great expectations" were based on my experience of working as a child?
- Now I have talked a lot about myself and my life. How about that we go through how the world was in the 19th century?
- Christmas was a popular holiday, often celebrated with a big feast, family and small gifts.
- Here are 3 facts about the life in the 19th century : The life of the poor was often tight, unsanitary and overcrowded. Since food was expensive, the poor would often be sick, because of the lack of protein and fiber.
- It was thousands of different jobs to choose from. The poor would always have less options, or worse conditions. Rich would have the opposite.
