The theme of the book is to stand up for what you believe in and your culture. Audra is a book carrier which means she carries books that are in Lithuanian even though they are illegal because thats her language and she's not going to let the Russians take it away.

The conflict is between Character-Vs-Society The main character of the book is Audra and she is fighting against the Russians to help keep Lithuanian books going out to people so they can read in their language and not have to feel Russian.

My parents ARE great they're still alive
Some character traits of Audra are bravery, strength, and selflessness. She is brave by continuing to carry books and not stop even though it could mean she might be put in prison or killed. She has strength by continuing on even though her parents were put in jail for ten years she still kept helping Lithuania. She shows selflessness by wanting to help fight the Russians even though she had a high chance of getting hurt or dying
