The Philippians first leads a war against Spain then turns towards the United States through gorilla warfare for independence. That lead to a war that lasted 3 years. The Philippines were upset that they were being given to another countries imperialist rule.
Foraker Act
The United States and Cuba signing a treaty for the withdrawal of American troops from Cuba for seven conditions. The U.S. basically said they were free but kept a tight leash on them

This established a small civilian government onto Puerto Rico. The U.S. would still protect them though.
what this did was create a list of almost requirements. (1) each great power should maintain free access to a treaty port or to any other vested interest within its sphere, (2) only the Chinese government should collect taxes on trade, and (3) no great power having a sphere should be granted exemptions from paying harbour dues or railroad charges.
the chinese trying to push out forigners. this resulted in military actions.
