- On April 12th 1861 the South attacked Fort Sumter and after 30 hours of heavy shooting the people who were defending the fort put up the flap of surrender

- Battle Of Bull Run
- In 1861 Union Soldiers marched in to Richmond to end the rebellion and when the Union soldiers reached Manassas and that's where the two armies met. It looked likes the Union would win but the Confederates held them back until reinforcements came. The Confederates then charged at the Union and the Union troops fled back to Washington

- Battle Of Antietam
- The commander of the confederate forces Robert E Lee went and tried to invade Maryland. He thought that showing the Confederates strength would persuade Maryland to join them. On September 1862 the two armies met in Antietam Creek where Robert E Lee was badly outnumbered and had to retreat to Virginia. Many People were killed in this battle

- Battle Of Gettysburg
- In the Summer of 1893 Lee wanted to capture a Northern city so that they can make peace but when they met in Gettysburg the Union had in advantage when on a hill. When the confederates charged the union kept on shooting and it was a win for the union but many people from both sides died.

- The Battle of Vicksburg
- In May 1863 Union wanted to control the Mississippi River so that they can split the confederacy into two parts. The Union used boats and attacked Vicksburg until they surrendered. when they surrendered The Union had successfully split the confederacy

- Black People not getting equal pay when serving for the Military
- Abolitionists wanted congress to recruit black people but when they found out they weren't getting equal pay they protested and after a little time they gave black soldiers equal pay

- Grant Invades Virginia
- In May 1864 Grant tries evading Virginia with 100,000 troops compared to Lee's troops of 60,000. After chasing the confederate soldiers the union had the same amount of soldiers as Lee but he was provided reinforcements and beat lee's army.
