  • The people of maple street accusing each other
  • One of the main themes in Monsters are due on maple street is the only enemies we have is ourselves. One example of this is when the people of maple street are accusing each other of being the imposter. This shows that even people who know and live near each other can accuse and make enemies of each other which usually leads to chaos (Pg, 85). Another example is when the people were blaming each other, some people broke stuff like windows and cars in the movie and teleplay, (Pg, 85). This shows that the people of Maple Street's accusation and arguing did lead to the cause. And even though they knew each other they didn't hesitate breaking stuff. Lastly, is when the figures are looking down at the town and saying, "They picked the most dangerous enemy they could find... and it's themselves." (Pg, 86). This shows that the figures who barely knew them already knew that their arguing was going to lead to trouble and fighting. This proves that one of the themes is, the only enemies we have are ourselves for the teleplay, monsters are due on maple street.
