Women had no financial autonomy, no right to own homes or land, they were considered 2nd class citizens, and were not allowed to vote!
Women won many things during the Women's Suffrage Movement by successfully pushing for the 19th amendment to be ratified! This increased women's pay, women were recognized in custody battles, women could own homes, have financial autonomy, and even gained access to birth control options.
Women from all backgrounds and social backgrounds lobbied together to fight for the 19th amendment! They organized clubs, protests, marches, and demonstrations that even included civil disobedience.
