One hot, summer day, the farmers crop sets on fire. Seeing this, a group of the horses run away.
A few of the white horses that run away have longer fur and shorter bodies. This makes them better suited for the cold environment they run into.
The thick fur white horses are able to better survive in the colder environment. They are able to blend in with the snow and stay warm. Whereas the brown horses are not able to survive since they are easily spotted in the snow and have shorter fur.
The white horses mate with the small, thick fured, white horses. Eventually after many generations the white horses and brown horses become different. The offspring of the white horses inherit traits from their parents. They inherit smaller bodies and thicker fur. These traits help them better survive in the cold environment.
When the horses meet again, they are completly different species. The ones from the snowy environnment have smaller bodies, and thicker fur. Whereas the horses on the farm are bigger with shorter fur. This is habitat isolation. The horses were seperated by habitat. This caused the species to change their traits which then caused them to no longer be able to reproduce.
