- The candidates of each party eventually culminate their campaigns for party support in one of two ways.
- The first method that a party's presidential candidate is chosen is called a primary, in which the candidate is elected by one of 3 ways:* An open primary, in which anyone can vote for any party's candidate* A semi-open primary, where registered voters may vote in any * A closed primary; only registered party voters vote for their party.
- Once the President is elected, they are officially inaugurated to office by swearing an oath to office. This event is held on the 20th of January the year after the election, and is the official beginning of the new presidency.
