SettinSettingWilliam Kamkwamba is a young boy living in a small town called Wimbe, located in the African country of Malawi. He lives with his family on their small farm where they grow maize and tobacco. This is where William's story takes place during the early 2000's while it is sunny and humid with forests. Malawi is a farming country with many farmers and traders like William's family. These people struggle with very poor conditions. Many people die because of very contagious diseases like tuberculosis and gonorrhea.
Rising Action (And Plot Developments)
William is the protagonist the story revolves around. He also has a dog named Khamba who sadly dies later on. William's two best friends are his cousin Geoffrey, and the chief's son, Gilbert. The main obstacles they face are famine and poverty. William himself is very respectful and follows Malawian traditions, treating his parents and siblings with respect.

The problem William wants to overcome is to end famine. The famine affects everyone in the country and causes poverty, depression, hunger, and the lack of energy is devastating. . This incident is what sparks William's curiosity, and he decides to build the windmill.
