The water touched Humitau, which made her scream and cry. Tau-mariu heard her and ordered the waters to stop rising. Aponi-tolau and Humitau helped the earth heal by planting plants, trees, and flowers. Although Tau-mariu did all that for Humitau, he's still angry at Aponi-tolau for what he did.

Following the course of a river, Aponi-tolau was brought to the sea. That's when he was at the Tower Rock, home of the Lord of the Sea, Tau-mariu.
Finally, meeting the Nine Beautiful Maidens made him furious. Aponi-tolau was so mad that he took his hook out from his belt and pierced it into the body that hit Humitau, the favorite of Tau-mariu. Aponi-tolau was charmed by Humitau's beauty despite his rage. Therefore, he gently lifted her onto his raft and swiftly rode toward his home, the mountain peak.
Humitau and Aponi-tolau were almost at the shore when Tau-mariu's anger suddenly disrupted their pace. Tau-mariu called for his allies, the waves, and fishes, to toss Aponi-tolau into the deep sea. But safely, so Humitau would not be hurt.
On the other hand, Aponi-tolau and Humitau safely got to the shore with the help of his mom, Langaan. Afterward, Aponi-tolau was successful in Humitau falling in love with him by taking care of her. They were away from the sea where Tau-mariu could control them.
