- Good morning everyone today we are going to have an activity about cell types
- For our activity I will group you all in two groups
- You two will be discussing how prokaryotic cells are discovered and the other two will be eukaryotic
- So mine would be archaea
- I'll be discussing the bacteria
- I will give you 30 mins to search about the topics that I have assigned

- Mine would be animal cells so yours is plant cells

- Theodor Schwann also reached the same conclusion as Schleiden but with animal tissues that it being composed of cells
- Matthias Schleiden came to the conclusion that cells make up all plant tissues and that an embryonic plant originated from a single cell. He stated that the fundamental unit of all plants is the cell.
- Bacteria was first discovered by Antony Van Leeuwenhoek when he first seed it he named it animalcules
- Carl Woese was first to discover archaea Carl Woese was an American biophysicist and microbiologist who revolutionised evolutionary biology. In 1977, he uncovered the ‘third domain of life’. He achieved this by defining Archaea (a group of single-cell prokaryotic organisms) – by phylogenetic taxonomy of 16S ribosomal RNA, a technique pioneered by him.
