  • The Haitian Revolution
  • Before the revolution Haitian had lot of slaves (about 90% of the population). The white poor people were treated around just as badly as the slaves were. Some of the colored people were rich, but they since they were people of color, they still were treated less than the white people. Sometime a little before the revolution began, the rich colored and white poor people were tired of being treated less than others, so they rebel until they got their rights.
  • The Haitian revolution begins in 1791 and ends in 1803. Since there were so many slaves in Haitian, they joined forces and fought for their freedom during the revolution. A former slave named Toussaint I 'Overture new what it was like being a slave, so he helped lead the revolution. The Franch tried to take back their control over the island, but during this time the Franch revolution happened. This only motivated the slave more. When the Haitian revolution ended, the slaves came out on top and took control over the island declaring Independence and their freedom.
