Russia -Ukraine Crisis : Dark Clouds with some silver lining for India

- Dad, its been 2 months up after Russia invaded Ukraine. My friend Sai, medical student who returned from Ukraine was worrying that his online classes have begun but there has been no practical training, if the war does not end he might have to give up medical education.
- Oh ! Son, I wish soon there is peace between the two countries .Don't worry lets go out in the lawn and talk in the fresh air you will feel better.
- Dad Indian rupee has devalued against U.S. Dollar which is set to give incentive to exports. Russia and Ukraine region accounts for 30% of global wheat exports. Disruption in this region due to war has pushed the prices of wheat to 14year high level. As India being the 2nd largest manufacturer and exporter of wheat it stands to gain.
- Son this war has affected our Indian economy too. In India the commodity prices, prices of crude oil, metals, agriculture commodities have surged to a high level. It is likely that RBI will be compelled to raise interest rates, this is going to curb liquidity in our system and will affect consumer markets.
- Dad recently, in a big breakthrough Egypt the world's largest importer of Russia and Ukrainian wheat has approved India as one of its suppliers. Egypt is likely to lift 1 million tonnes of wheat from India of which 2,40,000 will be shipped in April itself.
- And Son India has 400 million tonnes of wheat lying in stock pile. Taking advantage of these factors i.e devaluation of rupee, Russia and Ukraine's inability to export and rise in price of wheat ,India will start exporting its wheat reserves to Turkey and Lebanon and other Middle east countries.

- Yes you are right my son I read in newspapers the other day that Egypt has approved India as its wheat supplier .This deal will have a very positive impact on Indian economy . In such times of war one can say for India there are dark clouds with some silver lining. As they say every bad holds the possibility of something good.
