- Zeus decided he wanted a son who could protect both mortals and the Olympian gods.
- Zeus thought of every woman who could bear such a child. He finally decided Alcmene would be the perfect woman for the job.
- Teeny problem... Alcmene & Amphityron just got married. Knowing she was a virtuous woman, Zeus knew he'd need a good plan.
- Immediately after the wedding, Amphityron had to leave to take care of some family business.
- Zeus knew this was his chance! He would disguise himself as Amphityron and visit Alcmene while Amphityron was away.
- Alcmene welcomed her "husband" home.
