George and lennie are walking to the ranch and stop to get some water and george is talking about his dream but lennie is holding him back .

curley gets mad and attack at lennie for thinking that he was laughing at him with the rest of the guys but really he was day dreaming about the rabbits and break curleys arm
lennie is talking to curly's wife and as they're talking she tells him to feel her hair lennie is petting to hard and shes started to scream and he broke her neck
now george wont let me tend the rabbits
george and candy find her dead body and immediately knew who done it and decided to make a plan to make it where George doesn't look guilty and all the guys decide to kill lennie

george finds lennie sitting by a river having hallucinations about george leaving him then george finds him and they start talking about their dream house while talking about it george shoots lennie

irony: its ironic how throughout the story george talks about how he wants lennie to leave and how he would be better off without lennie but when it came time to kill him he almost couldn't do it and was sad that he was leaving
one day i'll be happy without you
