- Liam is an 8-year-old boy with autism. He is smart and loves to build with blocks and draw pictures, but he has difficulty speaking.

- Liam wants to say hello too, but he has trouble speaking. He smiles but doesn't know how to respond. "Good morning! "Liam walks down the school hallway to his classroom without saying anything.
- Hello Liam!!
- I want to say hello too

- Let's GO!!!!!!!!!

- During the school day, students often ask questions, work in groups, and tell their teachers when they need help. Liam wants to do these things too, but communicating is challenging for him.

- One day, he became very thirsty during class. He wanted a drink of water, but he did not know how to tell his teacher. As time passed, he became frustrated.

- He started crying and hitting his desk because no one understood what he needed. At first, his teacher thought he was just upset. Later, she realized that Liam simply wanted water.

- This happened often. When Liam needed help with schoolwork, wanted to use the bathroom, or felt tired, he could not explain it. Since he couldn't communicate, he often became anxious or frustrated. His classmates also found it difficult to understand him, so he did not interact with them very often.

- Liam's teachers introduced him to an AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) app on a tablet.

- He could also use the app to tell others how he was feeling. The app had pictures and words that he could tap. When Liam wanted water, he tapped the picture of a cup, and the tablet said, "I want a drink of water." If he needed help, he could press "I need help." He could also use the app to tell others how he was feeling
