The chief is captured
In 1519, the spaniards landed in Mexico. This is where they met the rich and skilled traders the Aztects. The Aztects had a large amount of wealth which they recieved from trading and large payments of tribute from those they had conquered.
The spaniards are out.
The spaniards planned on converting the natives to christinanity. To do so they would shout the essentials of the gospel: the only problem with this is that the natives didn't understand them. This made the spaniards mad which resulting in enslaving or killing the natives.

To show there dominance, the Spaniards challenged the local forces by entering Tenochitilan and capturing Motezuma, the Aztec leader, hostage.
The end
This plan backfired as it started and uprising. Causing the Aztecs to drive the spaniard out of Tenochitilan in the July of 1520. This night is rembered as 'the night of tears'.
The spaniards were heavily aided by disease throughout the warefare. Infact it is estimated that 3/4 of natives died from the war or illness; although the europeans were immune the Aztecs weren't.
Finally on August 13th the Aztec capital fell and the spaniards built Mexico City on top of it.
