The math teacher takes percy aside after an argument with a bully, she turns into a monster and attaks percy but percy manages to kill it with a sword
After percy got home he went to the beach with his mom they later met grover his best friend and went back to the car then they noticed a monster running after him. right before his mom died she told percy to go to a camp.
At the camp, percy jackson finds out the he is the son of Poseidon, and later finds out the zues is accusing poseidon of stealing his bolt and demands that the son of poseidon shall return it

Hades accuses percy of taking his helm and having the bolt, percy then finds the bolt in the bag ares gave him, percy beats ares in a fight and hades helm was returned.
percy then returns the lighting bolt back to zues and zues rewards him by not killing him. Percy also gives his mom medusas head so she can use it on smelly gabe (percys abusive step dad)
