"if you were to observe their ugly and inhuman treatment of Negroes here in the city jail; if you were to watch them push and curse old Negro women and young Negro girls" He uses "doubt" to be a smart aleck and incite tone to his statement. He knows that white people and policemen show no remorse to the colored.

His image as a spiritual figure is often perceived as moral, trustworthy, and believable. Because he is seen as a spiritual authority, people are more likely to trust him and follow his lead. He uses this influence to advocate for human rights and to fight for justice.
