- I've avoided speaking ever since

- Whispers: She looks so scared
- *giggles silently*

- Stand-up presentation coming due date: a week
- who wants to work together?!
- YAY!! I'm Excited
- Oh no... My hearts racing...I'm getting sweaty...everyone's going to stare at me
- It's a Monday morning and the teacher says they have a 3-minute presentation on Friday, and Amanda already feels a pit in her stomach
- Gleiten: 3
- What if I cant speak at all...what if they laugh at me?!
- Gleiten: 4
- Um.. today I will be speaking about...
- Gleiten: 5
- A significant memory come to her: when she had a loss of words in 8th grade and classmates made comments about her. This stuck with her ever since.
- Amanda: I can't go in there and face all those people
- Friday morning comes and Amanda panics. She can't bring herself into the classroom, so she hides and starts trembling and feels nauseous.
- Gleiten: 6
- Good, now take that and pair it with deep breathing. Inhale on four and exhale on six.
- slowing my breath is actually helps clear my mind.
- In Ms. Parks office, Amanda learns to cope with her nervous thoughts and practice new coping skills- which can be shown using cognitive- behavioral therapy.
- Gleiten: 7
- Back at Amanda's locker, her mind races about every possible mistake. This only make her body tense and making her more nervous.
- My topic is non-electrical cars and the impacts of climate change.
- I'm so much calmer now, I did it despite all the fear I had
- Classmates: Good Job Amanda!!
- Two weeks later, Amanda tries again to represent. She's still nervous but her heart is racing much less, and she has more confidence.
- Gleiten: 8
- When Amanda gets home from school, she practices her speech before class and while doing so her voice trembles and she feels lightheaded.
