- My family had been preparing me for my first day of school for weeks.

- September 2011, the first day of kindergarten
- She was in middle school so, of course she was an expert on social interaction.
- Gleiten: 6
- There will be kids that eat glue and pick their boogers
- Gleiten: 7
- My mom did my hair and made me breakfast, I knew my teacher and where my class was, I was almost ready.
- Stay far away from them, or you'll be a glue eating booger picker too!

- As my sister walked me to the bus, she gave me insider information on how to handle big girl school.
- Then we'd have to sell you to the zoo.

- There was so many new faces in my class
- no booger pickers yet

- After that I was absolutely ready.

- I got to school and everything was going well. I met my teacher, I unpacked my school supplies and put my bookbag in my cubby.

- I sat at the seat with my laminated name tag and sat across from another girl.

- she sensed my discomfort and introduced herself

- I couldn't believe it, This was worse than eating glue and picking boogers.
- I can't risk being grouped in with a weirdo like that, the triangle table has no weird banana eating girls.

- bananas were meant to be cut into slices by an adult or eaten like monkeys do on TV. And she wasn't doing either.
- I spent the next activity ignoring Aja, even though boys have cooties, anything was better than weirdo Aja. I did my best to pretend like she wasn't there.

- AND her name was only 3 letters long. Much shorter compared to my 9 letters.
- Even though her banana was long gone scooted my chair to face away from her. I had decided everything she did was weird and I wanted no parts.

- But it was already too late
- As we worked as partners it became very clear it was a group assignment for a reason. I was forced to talk to her.
- I actually have to interact with this freak?!?!

- Taking what my sister told me into consideration I thought about changing my seat
- Why would you eat a banana with a fork??

- because you get more juice that way.

- But bananas aren't a juicy fruit

- Once I actually began talking to her, I couldn't stop, and without even knowing it her weirdness had begun to rub off on me

- Eventually the whole table was eating apples with spoons

- I found out we had a lot in common, she liked to play Minecraft and watch YouTube.

- I learned she had a twin brother, and she threw up every time she drank milk.

- Throughout the next months I began learning about Aja’s odd nature.

- Without realizing I had become friends with Aja.

- At recess we would look for bugs under rocks, she wasn't scared of bugs, so we’d spend time collecting worm families

- I enjoyed playing with her, even when we got in trouble together, we’d have to sit on opposite sides of the reading rug because we wouldn't stop talking

- I couldn't believe I didn't like her on the first day of school, I felt guilty for trying to ignore her and assuming she was weird.

- She wasn't a booger eater, she was so cool and kind, and always up to date with the FNAF lore.
- Everything I thought my sister knew about who to avoid when making friends was wrong.

- Now, whenever I meet someone new and they seem like a glue eating booger picker, I remember how bad I felt for assuming things about Aja and ignoring her when we first met.
- If I had gone off my first impression of Aja and ignored her I would've missed out on 12 years of friendship. Throughout our friendship I learned not to assume anyone is a weirdo booger eater until you truly get to know them.
