"The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street" Theme: Mankind Is Its Own worst Enemy
The Theme of "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street" by Rod Serling is mankind is it's own worst enemy. A reason why this is the theme is because when Les Goodman's car randomly starts by itself and everyone starts blaming him and accuses him of being a monster. This shows that everyone is trying to find a scapegoat and accusing Les Goodman only because his car started. Another reason why mankind is it's own worse enemy is because when charlie accidentally killed Pete Van Horn and everyone started beating him up and accusing him of being the monster. This shows that everyone is one hundred percent sure that Charlie is the monster because he accidentally killed Pete Van Horn also they are accusing him with little information. The last reason why I think this is the theme is because at the end of the story everyone starts to blame each other and pointing a finger at each other and arguing. This shows that all of the citizens are attacking each other and attacking each other until eventually everyone will die. These are the reasons why the theme for "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street" by Rod Serling is mankind is it's own worst enemy.
