The Earth has seven continents:Asia, Africa, South America, Nort America, Europe, Antarctica and Australia
A continent is a large, continuos mass of land are part of Earths
Greenland is classified as the words largest island
The region around the north pole is not a continent because it is made of a huge mass of dense ice not land
They are classified by characteristics shuch as elevation, slope, orientation stratification, rock formation, and soil type
Geographical features are the different shapes that the terrain has
The tectonic plates are sixteen and vary in size and shape
Heat frim deep whithin the planet causes plates to move
The main and the largest plates are the north American, South America, Pacific, Africa, Eurasian, Australia and Antartic plates
It takes millions of years for plates to move enough to create landforms
The medium-size plates are the caribbean plate,the cocos plate the nazca plate, the philippine plate, the Arabian plate, the scotia plate.and the Juan the Fuca plate
The cocos plate under the caribbean plate causes the high seismic and volcanic activity of the country
