- This is Hailey. It's currently the middle of August in her small town of Hazelville. Like every August Hailey's experienced, It's super hot and humid. The hills intimidate newcomers, so there's very few people in Hazelville. Everything was normal until, Hailey's life changed forever.
- Climax
- Hailey has a best friend that she has been close with ever since third grade. Hailey's best friend's name is Lindsey. Lindsey is very kind, honest, and wealthy. Hailey is not as fortunate. Hailey's parents haven't been making good money lately, and Hailey wants to help them.
- Falling Action
- Hailey asked Lindsey, "Do you see that van?" "Yes" said Lindsey. Hailey told Lindsey that her mom said not to go into there. The van comes once a year for a week. Hailey's mom also told Hailey that you get one free wish, but there is a consequence after.
- Resolution
- One day, Hailey and Lindsey were walking to school. Hailey told Lindsey that she was going to go make a wish at the van. Lindsey said, "Absolutely not!" "Why?" said Hailey. "Your mom told you not to." said Lindsey. "It can't be that bad of a consequence." said Hailey. Lindsey asked, "What would you wish for anyway?" Hailey told Lindsey, " More money for my family to pay the bills for our house." "Okay, just be careful."said Lindsey.
- The next day, Hailey went to the van to make her wish. The man said "What can I do for you?" Hailey said " I want to make a wish." The man said " You know there is a consequence after your wish right?" "Yes I know." said Hailey. The man asked her "What do you wish for?" Hailey said "$5,000 to help my family pay our house bill" " Okay, you can come back tomorrow and I will give you your money and consequence." said the man.

- The next day, Hailey came back to the free wishes van. The man said "Hello, here is your $5,000." "Thank you" said Hailey. Hailey asked "What is my consequence?" The man said "Lindsey, your best friend, died."
