- Hey, you! What're you think you're doing?
- My name's Kolya :) Have a sausage, friend
- Get me eggs for my daughter's wedding and y'all can have them back lol
- I don't trust this guy
- Lev finds a dead, frozen soldier and steals his knife away from him while his friends take drinks of the flask the soldier had on him. The Russian soldiers finds him and his friends, and they run back to the apartment building. Vera falls, causing Lev to turn back and help her up over the fence, only for Lev himself to be caught and arrested.
- Okay, lol
- I'm a murdered but I have eggs at my house, come w/me if you want them
- Lev gets placed in prison in Leningrad, the Crosses. After hours in the prison cell, the guards come back with a young soldier, who, once they're alone, later introduces himself as Kolya. They talk for a while, Kolya gives Lev a sausage and then they talk again before Kolya falls asleep, leaving Lev awake. 
- You guys are supposed to be my dinner >:(
- Lev, run while I have fun
- The next morning, Lev and Kolya are taken to a mansion where the NKVD are stationed. There, they meet the Colonel who tasks them with finding a dozen of eggs for the Colonel's daughter's wedding that following Friday. He confiscates Lev and Kolya's ration cards and sends them off with a letter saying that they shouldn't be stopped or harrassed.
- "Who's a good boy? You're my good boy.."
- Lev and Kolya decide that the Haymarket, which is technically just a black market, is the place to start. They don't find any eggs in the Haymarket, but a large man approaches them and says that he has eggs in his apartment. The giant leads them to the apartment but refuses to bring the eggs down to the street. Kolya agrees to do business in the giant's apartment even though the man had amitted to being a murderer.
- Lev and Kolya enter the giant's apartment, thinking they'll be doing business. Lev looks around before seeing some ribs of a child, a woman's thigh and another body part. This makes Lev and Kolya find out that the giant and his wife are cannibals. Kolya tells Lev to run, and soon after, Kolya follows Lev out. 
- After escaping the cannibals, sleep over at Kolya's friend's house, eat some soup from the rooster Kolya and Lev thought was a chicken, they make their way to Mga. While they walk, they talk about The Courtyard Hound and talk about Lev's father. They hear a howl and follow the sound, eventually coming across a clearing littered with dead dogs. One is still alive and Kolya slits it's throat to stop it's suffering.
