- Dr. Strauss come into the reading school and interviews everyone there. Miss Kinnian explains that the reason the doctors are dong this is because the doctors are doing an experiment to make people smarter. Charlie wants to be smarter,
- Climax
- Charlie goes through many experiments, and finally Dr. Strauss and Dr. Nemur decided to do the experiment on Charlie. Charlie goes through the operation and each day he slowly starts to get smarter. Charlie, Miss Kinnian, and the other doctors work together to make Charlie smart.
- Falling Action
- Charlie goes through a lot of changes. He learns a lot about the world around him and gained many new emotions. He loses his jobs and he realizes that not everyone is as nice at they seemed. He starts to hate being smart and doesn't want to continue with the experiment. He wants to shut himself away.
- Resolution
- One day, Charlie and the other doctors notice a lot of changes in Algernon's behavior. He has stopped eating and it seemed like his intelligence was deteriorating. This motivates Charlie to finish the experiment since he was now the only one who can find out what was wrong.
- Charlie found the conclusion to both his and Algernon's deterioration, and found out that the deterioration of their intelligence was unfixable. Charlie notices how his own intelligence had started to go away during his experiment, and has started to except how this is how things will be.
- Algernon eventually dies, and Charlie has lost all of his intelligence. He promises Miss Kinnian and everyone that he will try his hardest to get smart again one day. In the end, he decided he would fly to New York and start over. Be a new Charlie no one has ever seen and try again.
