The parliment of Great Britain imposed a direct tax on the British colonies in America. People were angry about this and revolted/protested against it.
Quartering act of 1774
Taxed goods imported to the American colonies. American colonists found it an abuse of power. Imposed duties on British china, glass, lead, paint, paper and tea imported to the colonies.
Intolerable acts of 1774
An act of the parliment of great britain. Its goal was to reduce the amount of tea held by the British East India and to help the struggling company survive. American Colonists were upset because it gave the company power over the American tea trade.
Common sense pamphlet- 1775
The objective of this act was to create a more effective method to house British troops in America.
a series of laws passed by the British Parliament after the Boston Tea Party. The laws were supposed to punish Massachusetts colonists for their defiance in the Tea Party protest of the Tea Act,
a 47-page pamphlet written by Thomas Paine advocating independence from Great Britain to people in the 13 colonies. Writing in clear and persuasive prose, marshaled moral and political arguments to encourage common people in the Colonies to fight for equal government.
