- There was a population of rats that lived in the city. Some rats were small and had light, gray, white fur, and it was very thin. Other rats had a darker thicker fur.
- Some people captured a portion of those rats and sent them to Canada very up north. The weather was very cold so the rats with the thicker and darker fur survived better.
- Some rats developed a very thick and dark fur to protect themselves from the weather. And the population of rats with thicker fur was increasing they weren't dying and they were reproducing the most. They had better fitness overall.
- The rats with the light, thin fur eventually disappeared, you can see it here, the comparison between the rats that stayed in the city and the rats that got sent to Canada. They're like different species now, The rats that got sent got bigger because they have more fur, and they are in a colder environment. The rats in the city are smaller look way different and also they just eat trash and garbage in the sewers. I call the new specie, "Hamrats" that's what they are called, because they are very furry and big but they still behave like rats
- If the humans bring both species back they will not be able to reproduce. They cannot interbreed now because they look very different, the new specie is way bigger, has different type of fur, and they adapted to their new environment. And the rats that stayed in the city are way smaller and it would be physically impossible for them to reproduce
- When the rats were adapting to the environment. They first had a structural adaptation, their body changed in order to survive the col weather. They didn't have a behavioral adaptation because they really do anything, their body just changed throughout the years, and also the rats with less fitness started to die, the darker, rats with thicker fur would survive and reproduce more so it was a mix everything and that's why they changed so much.
