- Fighting isn't working, so we have to lay siege.

- Hurry Up! Dig those Trenches!
- The Siege
- FIRE!!!!
- Ulysses S. Grant was trying to fight his way to victory. But it wasn't working so he decided to lay Siege on Vicksburg.
- The Caves
- Grant was smart so he dug trenches in front and behind them so they would be ready of someone attacked them.
- The Surrender
- WE SURRENDER! OUR PEOPLE ARE STARVING!
- Good Choice. Let us discuss the terms.
- Grant and his troops fire on Vicksburg continuously for about 7 weeks!
- The Terms
- Can we do something else other then unconditional surrender?
- Fine...
- During the Siege, the citizens of Vicksburg had to dig caves to live in. They could only come out when the Union was eating a meal and stopped bombing.
- This Siege might not last that longer.
- Yeah, a lot of people are already starving.
- The Union is eating lunch!
- The People finally surrender. After the Siege, they had exhausted all of their supplies and couldn't go on.
- At first, Grant wanted unconditional surrender, but the other people didn't like that. So he settled on parole, which meant that they were free to live in this town with supplies, but they couldn't have weapons and fight.
