Yay! Santa's coming!
Kids, it's Christmas Eve, you know Santa will be here soon to deliver your presents, so you have to so to bed.
Boys it's getting late, light outs or Santa will have to put you on the naughty list
Okay Mom, we're just about to sleep

Mom reassures kids that Santa is real and tells them to sleep or they won't get presents for Christmas.
Their gifts are ready for tomorrow! They'll cherish these presents, I'm sure of it!

Mom checks on the boys to make sure they are sleeping and tells them to go to bed for the second time.

Guys, Santa isn't real, I saw my and dad putting the presents here last night, I'm sorry I know the truth hurts
When the father checks on the daughter, he finds her sleeping; he doesn't know that she is dreaming about Christmas and Santa.
One of the kids can't sleep due to his excitement and accidentally walks in on the parents arranging the presents, then he realizes that Santa isn't real and he's devasted by his new understanding, and somehow his parents don't see him.
Knowing the bitter truth he goes to tell his siblings that Santa isn't real but they don't believe him one bit, they insult him and refuse to hear he's flimsy claim. One could say they're still in the cave but he's escaped the cave and found the true sunlight.
