- June 26, 1892, Dr. Jose Rizal arrived in Manila, Philippines, from Europe via Hong Kong, accompanied by his sister Lucia. And then, proceeded to Malacañang Palace to meet Governor-General Eulogio Despujol.Suddenly, he was arrested by the officials.

- Bago niyo siya husgahan, tingnan niyo muna ang inyong mga sarili. Ang nais lang niya ay pantay na pagtrato ng mga Espanyol sa mga Pilipino.
- Sinumang lalaban sa kagustuhan ng bansa ay parurusahan at hahatulan ng kamatayan! Ito ang nararapat kay Dr. Jose Rizal!
- Hinahatulan ng tribunal na ito si Don Jose Rizal Mercado y Alonso ng parusang kamatayan!

- Hindi makatarungan ang hatol! Ni hindi nila kami binigyan ng pagkakataon na higit pang ipagtanggol ang aming sarili!
- Huwag kang mag-alala. Ayos lang, kaibigan. Salamat sa lahat ng iyong ginawa.
- Nahihiya ako sa iyo at sa lahat ng Pilipino dahil sa nangyari. Patawad, aking minamahal na kaibigan.
- After the kangaroo trial, At 7:00 A.M., an hour after the reading of the death sentence Rizal was escorted to his cell in Fort Santiago to make use of his remaining time. His last 24 hours was his busiest life – as if trying to meet the deadline.

- Last hours of Rizal. At 6:00 A.M., December 29, 1896, Captain Rafael Dominguez, read the death sentence to Rizal to be shot at the back by a firing squad at 7:00 A.M. in Bagumbayan.
- Minamahal kong kapatid, sasabihin ko sa mga opisyal na ibigay ito sa iyo pagkatapos ng aking kamatayan. May laman ito sa loob. Salamat.

- Shortly afterwards Trinidad entered the cell to fetch her mother. As they were leaving Rizal whispered that “there is something inside the alcohol cooking stove” Trinidad understood. This “something” was Rizal’s farewell poem.
