- Soon our class will be starting our new study learning all about simple machines. The children will probably want to learn about some that you use? Would you be able to be a classroom visitor and also give us some ideas
- I would love to visit and I'll start thinking of some ideas. Let me know what the children want to learn about.

- Creating democratic learning communities that are engaging, caring, respectful, and inclusive involves cultivating an environment where everyone in the learning community, including students, contribute to the learning process and environment, collaborate, and appreciates each individuals insights, perspectives and contributions.

- Ensuring that each child and person in the community is accepted, respected, and knows that they matter. Planning learning with the children and incorporating various pedagogical practices when teaching. Actively listening to and supporting each child while modeling empathy, care, and respectful behaviors.

- Why/how the standard is significant in our practice?
- My children are always so excited to come to school. Every day they say, "Ms. L said we can learn about anything we want."
- I am so glad to hear how much your children love coming to school. They are correct, everyone gets a say in what and how we learn. It's called a democratic learning environment. Studies show that when everyone works collaboratively together in the learning environment, children are more motivated to learn.
- A democratic learning community creates opportunities for students to think critically and play an active roll in their learning. This fosters confidence and motivation in students.
