In 1825 Hayden Edwards got a land grant for a territory in East Texas. When he arrived there were already people living there known as the old settlers he took action by making them pay more than they were paying already. When Mexico found out about his actions they took his grant. This made Edwards really mad, so made he wanted a rebellion.
We are making you pay extra for the land you already own. HaHa
That's not fair!!

In 1829 Mexico sent General Manuel de Mier y Teran to Texas and write a report of what he was seeing in Texas. Once he got there he was very confused and angry at what he saw. He saw many anglo settlers,but not a lot of Mexicans or even tejanos. He also saw some of the anglo settlers still following the United States and not Mexico.
Yay! It's the 4th of July!
They are still celebrating US holidays. They are not loyal to Mexico.

I am making the Law of April 6th, so Texas will be loyal to us and not the US!
In 1830 the Mexican government passed the law of April 6th which made Texas have less rights. They could not trade or buy anything from the U.S., they also didn't let anybody come to the United States anymore. They sent soldiers to Texas to enforce these laws.
