- Celebrity A and Celebrity B recently stared in a movie together
- Gleiten: 2
- While on a press tour, conducting separate interviews, Celebrity B made a comment about Celebrity A regarding filming their recent movie
- Gleiten: 3
- It was really difficult to work with Celebrity A, she was late every day because of her drug problem
- Gleiten: 4
- When Celebrity A saw the interview she was in shock
- Gleiten: 5
- Celebrity A had actually only been late to the filming of the new movie once, and it was because of a health issue
- Gleiten: 6
- Im sorry but we have went in another direction
- Because of Celebrity B's statements, Celebrity A has been unable to find other employment

- Celebrity A decided to speak to an attorney
- Gleiten: 8
- To prove defamation there must be (1) publication, (2) of a defamatory statement, (3) that identifies the plaintiff, (4) that is false, (5) that is published with the requisite degree of fault, and (6) that damages the plaintiff's reputation. (actual malice required here- celebrity)
- After determining that all of the requirements were met, the celebrity and attorney decided to take the matter to court

- Here, the defendant published a defamatory statement identifying the plaintiff by falsely claiming she was late to work because of a drug issue. It has been determined that the defendant acted with actual malice because he knew the statement wasn't true and harmed her reputation, as evidenced by her inability to gain employment.
