Resolution: Mango Says Goodbye SometimesThis vignette is where Esperanza hard-core reflects on what the three women had told her. She says that she will leave Mango Street but never forget about where she came from. She accepts that Mango Street is part of who she is.
One day I will pack my bags of books and paper. One day I will say goodbye to Mango. I am too strong for her to keep me here forever. One day I will go away...They will not know I have gone away to come back. For the ones I left behind (Cisneros, pg 110).

THEME: Identity and the Power of LanguageIdentity is a key theme in this novel due to Esperanza discovering who she is and how she is going to stay connected to where she is from and her community even when she leaves to do great things. The power of language contributed to the theme of self discovery and identity in the way that the reader is only able to understand this theme through Cisneros' language and the way she speaks through Esperanza throughout the book.
