- Walter and Ruth argue about money infront of Travis
- "We don't have the money Travis now head on down to school"
- "why would you tell the boy such a foolish thing, Here's 50 cents, Here's another 50 get you a cab for school or a fruit"
- Benetha starts to argue with Walter about her dream to nurse
- "I don't want to be like all the other girls Im gonna be a nurse"
- "Where are we gonna get that kind of money huh"
- Ruth and Mama talk about the money
- "What are we going to do with the money Mama?"
- "We could move out of this dump and sell it"
- Walter gives Travis some money for school while Ruth wants to save all the money they can until their check comes with all the money.
- Walter finds out about the plan
- "You planned on not telling me about your little plan"
- Walter wants to start using the money towards a liqour store while benetha wants to become a doctor and use the money for her schooling which causes a fight to outbreak through the apartment
- Benetha starts arguing with Mama
- "I don't believe in this god that you do"
- "If your living in my house there is always god present
- Ruth asks Mama what their plan is to do with the money. Mama wants to sell their home and buy something better for everyone knowing Walter will most likley mad.
- Ruth passes out
- "what's wrong with you Ruth"
- Walter comes home from work to find that Mama and Ruth are not going to invest in his liqour store and buy a new house.
- Benetha starts to talk back to Mama about how she does not believe in God then mama tells her there is a god in her house
- Ruth passes out after Mama and Benetha fight and we later learn that she ended up being preagent
