- Jose and Esmeralda decided to finally get married after 6 months of dating. There were mixed opinions about this but they decided to do it anyways.
- I pronounce you husband and wife.
- For their honeymoon they went to Cancun. Everything was going well. Esmeralda felt sure about Jose.
- I know he's the one.
- The ocean is as beautiful as you!
- After the trip they got home and they were very tired. Jose told Esmeralda to unpack their suitcases. He told her that it was her duty as a wife now.
- I'm tired too!!
- I'm tired I'm going to sleep, unpack our suitcases.
- That's your duty as a wife now!
- Jose told Emeralda something that made her furious. Esmeralda felt hurt to know that Jose thinks that way of her. She knows he was telling her that because she's a woman.
- This bathroom is so dirty why haven't you cleaned it.
- Your the woman of the house so you have to clean it.
- why don't you clean it remember we both use it.
- Years later Esmeralda never did anything about Jose because she thought he would change once they had kids. But she was wrong and felt worse about being a woman.
- Ask your mom that's her duty in this house!
- I mean nothing to him......

- After days of thinking Esmeralda decided to leave Jose. She knew it was the best her and her daughter. She didn't want her thinking it was ok to be treated like that, especially because it's very common in hispanic culture.
