- Put my man down Grendel! I am Beowulf.
- I have never met a man whose hands were harder (line 428). Shall I worry?
- By this time, all of Beowulf's men came to help him defeat the monster.
- Beowulf defeated the monster!!
- Beowulf, our hero!!
- I am filled with much shame. I have been defeated by weak Beowulf. My arm!!
- As the entire community rejoiced, Grendel and his mother hid away in their lair; they had been defeated.
