...and I just hope I get to see Jane again! How did you like her sister, Elizabeth?
After they finish talking, Elizabeth overhears Mr. Bingley and Darcy talking about a girl. so she eavesdrops. She hears Mr. Bingley raving over Jane, and Mr. Darcy call her "tolerable". She fells very offended and is quite upset.
That arrogant man! His looks don't make up for his manners!!
She's tolerable, but not handsome enough to tempt me.
That night, Jane and Elizabeth discuss Mr. Bingley in detail, and Elizabeth can tell that Jane is in love with him. Jane says that Mr. Bingley is "Just what a young man ought to be… sensible, good-humored, lively; and I never say such happy manners! - so much ease, with such perfect good breeding!"
He is everything a young man ought to be, sensible, good-humored, lively; and I never say such happy manners!
I'm so thrilled that you found a guy that is enamored with you! Now, tell me some more about him...
After Mrs. Mallard is finally happy and realizes she is now free to live a happy life, she, Josephine, and Richards walk downstairs. Just as they walk downstairs, Mr. Mallard, untouched by the accident, comes through the door.
Jane went to bed soon after, and Elizabeth stayed up, kept awake by the musings of marriage.
