- I'm so glad we finally found time to stargaze again!

- A spider that has been injected with gamma radiation, and accidentally let out of the lab

- Oh my goodness what was that?!
- I don't know, but it was so bright!
- Yeah, it was brighter than every other star combined! What could have caused something so bright?

- It is I! The great alien God! You have both been bitten by a radioactive gamma-ray spider
- What you saw was a gamma ray burst. Gamma ray bursts are the most powerful events in the universe
- There are two types of gamma ray bursts, although both signal the existence of a black hole

- Short gamma ray bursts are caused by either the collision of a neutron star and a black hole, or two neutron stars
- Short gamma ray bursts last less than two seconds.

- Long gamma ray bursts are caused by the collapse of giant stars into black holes.
- These gamma ray bursts last longer than two seconds.

- Woah, I had no idea that gamma ray bursts existed. That one must have been a short burst, it was only one second!
- Me neither, let's keep stargazing and see if we see any more neutron star/black hole collisions or star collapses!
