4. Supernatural Aid
Chi Li's family tries to persuade her not to sacrifice herself because she is of worth to them.
5. Belly of the Whale
Chi Li sneaks out of her home and volunteers to be sacrificed despite her family's wishes.
6. Atonement with the Father
Chi Li is given a serpent-hound on a leash, a sharp-pointed sword, and the freedom to use them, all of which she requested from the chief magistrate.
Chi Li is brought to the serpent's den by country officials.
Chi Li slays the serpent.
