- Good morning class! Let's start our new lesson for today. Does anyone of you have any idea what we will discuss today?
- Hazards,ma'am?
- Plants and Animals?
- You got it right, Dami. We will be talking about hazards and risk in our community.
- Did you know class that even at home, we can be prone to risk and hazards? What do you think is a hazard?
- Not to interrupt, Eddy, but I think you're right.
- I think so, Ed. Let's hear it from ma'am.
- Dami, is that something that can cause harm to us?
- On the other hand, risk means how great the chance that we will be harmed by the hazard. example for this is when working for flammable materials like gasoline, or doing an x-ray and pressure systems like boilers because it can cause us a potential serious damage. Do you guys, understand?
- You got it right, Eddy. Hazard is something that can cause us harm, example for this are frayed electrical cords because it could result to an electrical shock, or a noisy machine because it could damage our hearing
- That's why knowing hazards and risk reduction is very important, because the consequences of our illness, injury, and death will be reduced. Okay?
- Eddy, what do you think about the lesson our teacher discuss to us a while ago? Isn't interesting?
- It is, but you think it's too early to tackle about things like that? Do we really have to study and determine them?
- Hmm... you got a point you know. That's why even from school, we already taught how to prepare before, during and after a disaster.
- Of course, silly. Disasters are unpredictable, Eddy. We won't even noticed that it just happened one day, especially Earthquakes. That's why knowing it's hazard and risk reduction would survive us from it.
- Okay, Dami. I'm going inside our house now. Thank you for discussing it with me. You should go home too, stay safe.
