I can relate to this moment in my life with Marji a little bit because Marji struggled with people telling her she was dressed very inappropriately and I struggled with the office lady telling me I'm not dressed nicely enough for this School. My skirt was considered to be too short, which I did not agree with. Marji got lots of hate for not wearing her scarf properly and her clothes were not appropriate in her country. This was a big part for me as a freshman even though the office lady made me feel very upset for not doing anything wrong, I still never changed myself, and Marji never did either.
This is when I got in trouble with the office lady and I got shouted at because my skirt was considered to be too short. I felt very upset and scared in that moment.
When I was around 12 I wanted to "fit in" with older girls in my school, so I hung out with them, even though I didn't feel accepted.
This situation I can relate with Marji because we both tried to fit in with the older girls in our school and tried to be rebellious girls. We both wanted to be "cool". This experience made me realize my childhood was ending.
